BLOOM EARLY LEARNING PLATFORM BY VANERUM: GOLD AT NEOCON®

The Best of NeoCon® Awards – held during NeoCon® World's Trade Fair at Chicago's Merchandise Mart – are the highest honour for commercial furnishings manufacturers.

Diest, Belgium, 12/6/2013 - - VANERUM is pleased to announce that its newly launched innovative collection of early learning furniture, BLOOM, struck the Gold Award title in the Education Solutions category at NeoCon® 2013. Every year, the NeoCon® jury selects and awards the most innovative new designs for commercial furnishings displayed at NeoCon®. The 2013 competition received over 300 entries in various product categories.

VANERUM believes that learning during early childhood is fundamentally crucial to a student's success in the future and that learning should be introduced as an active and social process. Based on research into the changing social, academic and technological drivers of education, BLOOM answers the needs of all areas within a learning space by creating an engaging, interactive and inspiring learning environment.

BLOOM is a collection of unique classroom furniture and equipment geared towards early learning that evokes a sense of growth and discovery among students. Developed with an organic nature in mind, BLOOM supports the activity level required to captivate minds of students under age 7 by encouraging their curiosity and getting them excited to learn through movement, imagination, and technology at an early age. All products in the collection work together to promote hands-on, active learning.

With this recognition the NeoCon® jury extended VANERUM's Gold Award Education Solutions title awarded to i3BOARD during NeoCon® 2012. Other 2013 award winners include Haworth, Steelcase and Herman Miller.

Gert Van Erum, CEO of the VANERUM Group: "We are humbled to have struck 4 awards in the 5 years we participated in NeoCon®, and even more so to see our name listed along those of the most innovative players in the industry . Yet for us, the best recognition remains seeing children's and teachers' eyes light up when using our solutions. Studies have demonstrated that the effects of quality education persist even into adulthood. As such, early education environments must foster a sense of creativity, independence and active, rather than passive, learning styles. Learners are expected to collaborate in groups, express their ideas and thoughts and learn alongside the instructor. This changing paradigm creates new demands upon the furniture and equipment within the classroom, such as increased mobility, adjustability, interactivity and visual display elements. We challenge ourselves to incorporate all these demands into easy to use and fresh designs."

Social Interaction

One of the most crucial functions of early education is to teach children how to positively socially interact with their peers. The products of the BLOOM collection work cohesively to encourage learners to communicate, share, and discover as a community. Design elements including multiple display surfaces and inspirational colour palettes encourage originality and enthusiasm among young learners. Award winning products such as LIGHTHOUSE, an interactive digital learning tool, encourage hands-on participation and sharing, while familiarising children with technology at a young age. New display elements including CLOVER, SPROUT, and VINE highlight the individual creative nature of the students work and promote sharing and a greater level of self-confidence.

Movement Matters

The BLOOM Collection of early learning furniture was designed with mobility in mind, encouraging teachers to quickly create different learning and display spaces within the classroom to best suit their needs. Research has shown that when students connect to a learning subject both mentally and physically, they are much more likely to retain that knowledge. Therefore, active and lightweight seating solutions such as JOKUM and SEED have movement built in to the design in order to raise alertness and attentiveness. The mobility of the collection in general enables even the youngest learners to choose where they learn and interact best, highlighting the creativity of the students work and promoting a greater level of interaction and movement within lessons.

VANERUM and VANERUM Group pride themselves on delivering products that enhance their i3 philosophy; creating inspiring environments by integrating technology and fostering interaction (i3). The BLOOM collection is no exception; BLOOM sets the stage by encouraging life-long and experiential learning.
