This SEED chair comes with a cantilever frame with open front. This 'active' frame supports the movement of the user. In a forward tilting position, the seat surfce tilts forward, improving the sitting posture. They can be stacked on the table, clearing the floor space, which facilitates easy cleaning. |

The SEED Rocker isn't only stylish, it combines good looks with ergonomical seating and ease of handling. The sled-type frame alows forward tilting, which straightens the spine and pelvis. A forward tilting position leads to increased muscle activity in the back and abdominal areas. |

Ergonomical
For the last century, work chairs in schools have been designed for sitting upright, with the hip, knees and ankles all at right angles. Until recently, it was widely believed that people sat with a 90-degree bending of the hip joint preserves the natural healty curve of the back. This erect posture looks very nice, but it is impossible to sit this way for long and there is no scientific basis for it. It is entirely based on wishful thinking, morals and discipline from the days of the industrial revolution. This erect sitting posture cannot be maintained for more than one or two minutes. It induces bending of the back and results in fatigue and discomfort.
New insights in ergonomics, are telling us that a sitting posture that approaches the natural resting position is a more suitable position and allows the spine to carry the body weight in a more comfortable way. This we call “Balanced seating”.
Children are already trying to obtain this posture with normal chairs. They tilt forward on the legs of their chair to relieve back pressure. By tilting their chairs forward they avoid bending their backs, allowing the front and back muscles to relax, and thereby sitting in a more comfortable position with a straight back. Muscles are relaxed and the body is in a perfect posture for “balanced seating”, the most suitable position
for long periods of sitting.

Ecological
We’re spotting a growing global Ecological awareness. Public is becoming aware of the need for sustainable products. Ecological design does not reflect only on the product itself. Greener product design means designing the whole product system from a life cycle perspective.
The flexible shell is made out of Polypropylene without glass fiber. Because we only used Polyproylene and haven’t add any other materials e.g. fiberglass, the shell feels softer, but is still resistant to intensive use. The shell can be easily installed on sight which has a substantially impact on transport volume.
Easy to ship, easy to assemble, but most of all: designed for disassembly.
The different materials can be separated in a second and are fully recyclable.
